This project was approved within the budget of the new campus for the Vicente Martinez High School, Briones Independent Study Program, and the New Leaf Collaborative Program. The sports court and garden serve as an extension to the new campus. By taking an underused portion of the MJHS campus, the district was able to create a space for outdoor learning and activities to serve the needs of the students occupying their new campus across the street. The district also took the opportunity to add more parking spaces on Susana Street to alleviate parking and traffic flow issues caused by busy afternoon pickup from MJHS.
